Quarry Site Visit
Click here for the the handout that was passed out to the Planning Committee at the site visit today.

The Gazette was there (published next Thursday) and ITV West (see news tonight at 6:00).
The Quarry has also been on the BBC local news this week and on HTV news this morning.

The visit seemed to go pretty well. All the Wickwar posters were still hanging when the Committee toured of West End. However all of the ones at Churchend mysteriously disappeared.

The roads were swept last night and washed twice this morning and once during the visit. There were water sprinklers active all over the quarry.

As time was short we spoke on behalf of the Churchend Residents as well as the Wickwar Residents Action Group.

The Committee seemed to ask the right questions.

Howard Gawler (our ward Councilor) is now, as of the election last night, a planner. As he has a lot of knowledge about these particular planning applications he cannot vote on the Planning Committee for them (I am not sure this logic makes sense?). He will be representing Wickwar as a Ward Councilor.

Dr
I was on the site visit, and the whole time was orchestrated very well by Cemex.
Ofcourse, we were on a different bus to the Councillors, although there were some Cemex people on both buses explaining the site. No doubt the ones on the Councillors bus put their case very persuasively!!
Also, we did not see the whole site, but only the Coating Plant, new quarry workings and crusher. The glass recycling and block paving parts were not shown. :upset
